Quarterly Technology Release – Q3 2021

DemandBridge is excited to report some of the many developments we have been working on this past quarter, related to product enhancements and new integrations. We strive to provide constant improvements to products, services, and customer support.

In this quarterly review, we’ll highlight the following:

  • Introducing Direct Mail in DB Commerce – DB Commerce users have been able to add attachments to each item at checkout, but we’ve recently made improvements to streamline the process giving users the ability to attach a list(s) of recipients to their item during the customization workflow.
  • New Reporting Features in DB Sourcing – DB Reporting has made its way into DB Sourcing! We’re pleased to announce our improved report offering, powered by Microsoft Power BI data visualizations. The new DB Sourcing “Production Report” and “Job Analysis Report” offer robust visualizations aimed at providing more insights into how and what your organization is purchasing through our procurement solution, so you can leverage your spending power more strategically.

Introducing Direct Mail

DB Commerce users have been able to add attachments to each item at checkout, but we’ve recently made improvements to streamline the process giving users the ability to attach a list(s) of recipients to their item during the customization workflow.

During customization, once the user selects “Views Proof”, they now have the option to add a list(s) of recipients. This area supports a maximum of 2 files that include .csv / .xls / .xlsx file types. The number of recipients is counted within the file and becomes the order quantity for that item. Once the user adds the item to the cart, these list(s) will send to the vendor in order to produce the direct mail piece.

DB Sourcing: New Reporting Features

DB Reporting has made its way into DB Sourcing! We’re pleased to announce our improved report offering, powered by Microsoft Power BI data visualizations. At DemandBridge, we’ve been touting our decision to convert many of our reporting solutions using various underlying technologies to Power BI reports for some time now, and DB Sourcing reports are the latest—and certainly not the last—to make that jump. From a common means of warehousing data, modern dashboarding techniques, the potential to take advantage of other Microsoft capabilities (e.g. Machine Learning), and more, the benefits of building our reports using Power BI are endless. Not to mention, we’ve opened the door to new partnerships with Power BI experts in our industry whom we can entrust to execute customer requests and build new reports, thus freeing up our in-house engineers to focus on developing our core products.

One of the primary reasons we targeted DB Sourcing reports was to improve our overall application performance. This new approach to reporting is more efficient because complex queries aren’t happening against our database directly, but rather a replicated view of data, which takes load off our servers. Beyond those performance implications, the new DB Sourcing “Production Report” and “Job Analysis Report” offer robust visualizations aimed at providing more insights into how and what your organization is purchasing through our procurement solution, so you can leverage your spending power more strategically. Furthermore, these reports shed light on buying practices (e.g. number of suppliers solicited, whether work was quoted or contracted), and help administrators measure cost savings—both for their own organizations as well as for end customers.
