Introducing Item Spec Lists in the New Distribution Admin
We’re excited to introduce Item Spec Lists to the New Distributor Admin, enhancing how product specifications are managed and applied across items. This update improves efficiency and flexibility, giving administrators more control over item specifications.
Key Enhancements:
- A centralized Item Spec List view now displays essential details, including the list name, number of specs, lock status, and associated items (for locked lists).
- The introduction of Locked and Unlocked lists, providing greater control over spec consistency and customization.
- Seamless migration of all legacy attribute lists into the new system as Unlocked lists.
Understanding Locked vs. Unlocked Lists
- Locked Lists: Designed for specifications that remain consistent across multiple item types. These lists retain a permanent association with items, ensuring that any updates to the spec name or value are automatically applied to all linked items.
- Unlocked Lists: Ideal for situations where items share common spec names but require unique values. These lists serve as starting templates but do not maintain an active association with items once applied. Any updates made to an Unlocked List will not be reflected in items that previously used it.
Creating and Managing Lists
When adding a new list, administrators will be prompted to:
- Name the list
- Choose between a Locked or Unlocked list (this selection cannot be changed after creation)
- Add, edit, or delete spec names and values within the setup area
Migration of Legacy Lists
To ensure a smooth transition, all existing lists from the Legacy Distributor Admin have been successfully migrated to the New Distributor Admin. Additionally, all specifications will continue to be included in Order Print Request Emails as before.
