Quarterly Technology Release – Q1 2023

DemandBridge is excited to report some of the many developments we have been working on this past quarter, related to product enhancements and new integrations. We strive to provide constant improvements to products, services, and customer support.

In this quarterly review, we’ll feature highlights from DB Commerce and DB Sourcing:

  • What’s New with Checkout in DB Commerce – DB Commerce administrators have long been able to maintain a variety of settings related to checkout options. We’ve recently added the ability for customers to now check out with Distributed Checkout. Distributed Checkout allows the user to maintain one cart but indicate multiple shipping destinations for that singular cart.
  • Real Time Freight with Additional Carriers in DB Commerce – DB Commerce has integrated with a third-party API to offer real time freight calculations at checkout for carriers such as FedEx, USPS, and DHL. These are in addition to UPS, which has been available for several years now. This capability is especially important on sites offering credit card checkout, where the user’s card is charged at checkout for the order amount including freight charges.
  • Simplifying the Quote-to-Order Workflow for Promotional Products with DB Sourcing and SAGE – DemandBridge is proud to partner with SAGE to offer a host of capabilities within the DB Sourcing product to enhance our web-based procurement solution. DB Sourcing is popular amongst customers due to its ease of use, job status dashboard, and quick and seamless quote-to-order workflow.

What’s New with Checkout

DB Commerce administrators have long been able to maintain a variety of settings related to checkout options. We’ve recently added the ability for customers to now checkout with Distributed Checkout. Distributed Checkout allows the user to maintain one cart but indicate multiple shipping destinations for that singular cart. The cart contents are sent only once to the allocated ship to locations and billed to an individual cost center, credit card, or additional option to bill to the selected shipping locations. Each shipping location receives it own order number and is sent to the back office.

Distributed Shipping does not support:

  • Approvals
  • Custom Ship To Locations
  • Shipping Attention To Field
  • Shipping Misc Fields
  • Shipping Delivery Instructions
  • Coupons
  • Spending Accounts
  • Split Billing (Single select only credit card or cost center)
  • Customizable Items

This feature will be available on February 16th and can be enabled under the New Distributor Admin > Checkout > Permissions.

Real Time Freight with Additional Carriers

DB Commerce has integrated with a third party API to offer real time freight calculations at checkout for carriers such as FedEx, USPS and DHL. These are in addition to UPS, which has been available for several years now. This capability is especially important on sites offering credit card checkout, where the user’s card is charged at checkout for the order amount including freight charges.

Details are gathered for the order (item weights, ship from and ship to data), then communicated via the API to obtain the freight amount for the order. This ensures a level of accuracy above and beyond freight estimators or matrices. While this was possible for UPS already, we are pleased to answer the request for FedEx with a solution that may be used for multiple carriers without further development.

The DB Commerce team is ready to assist customers who would like to enable this capability. Team members will work with you to configure this for the each of the shipping methods you would like to offer. You may include a mix of carriers, as well as real time freight or estimated options.

Simplifying the Quote-to-Order Workflow for Promotional Products with DB Sourcing and SAGE

With the increased significance of Promotional Products in our industry, it is imperative to have an efficient and streamlined workflow to enable your business to make the biggest impact. Our integration with SAGE will allow just that. The SAGE Connect API offers a host of services to facilitate the transfer of product, category, vendor, and order information.

With these tools, users can continue to utilize SAGE as they do today to execute product searches, create presentations, and more, but cut down on the eventual re-keying of pricing and spec information into the DemandBridge products they ultimately use to manage projects, propose pricing, and place orders. With this latest integration, we leverage real-time product information coming directly from SAGE, including imagery, pricing, and specifications.

From the promo project creation page, users can render out specifications and product data directly from SAGE. Users can then employ DB Sourcing to send that proposal to their customer before going on to submit a purchase order to awarded suppliers. Along the way, users can monitor the progress of these jobs and actions taken alongside their “print” projects from their job status dashboard, manage attachments, and interact with their colleagues within the context of their electronic file jacket.

Perhaps most notably, DB Sourcing facilitates the hand-off of the order to the user’s ERP system to handle the downstream processing and accounting functions like customer and vendor invoicing – thus eliminating any manual intervention.
